Dental Implants
In many instances the most ideal replacement of a single or multiple missing teeth are dental implants. A dental implant is a small titanium screw that is placed in the jaw bone (similar to that of a hip or knee replacement). Following osseointegration (i.e. the titanium implant healing and fusing to the bone), a single crown or fixed bridge for multiple missing teeth can be secured to the top of the implant(s). Implants can also help to stabilize loose removable dentures with ‘buttons’ or ‘clips’. These buttons or clips are placed in the underside of the denture to then ‘snap-on’ to the implants. This adds excellent support and stability to the denture.
